FREE Stock Photos for your Website

Posted on November 13th, 2009 by admin

I’ve been using istockphoto.com for a few years now but I always forget about something they offer.  FREE images.  Once a week, iStockPhoto.com gives away a free hi-resolution image for your use.  So, remember to check each week and get your free image download.  Even if you don’t need that particular image right now, you should

Make Training Videos for Free

Posted on November 13th, 2009 by admin

I wanted to tell my readers about a great Video capture software that I found. The best thing about it is that it is free. The limitation on it is that your video captures must be 5 minutes or less. But it is a great tool for the beginner because as soon as you are done it sends the video up to screencast.com and then it adds a link on your clipboard to the new video that you just made. This makes it easy to instantly send a tutorial to a friend or a client. You can download the FREE software here: http://www.jingproject.com/

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of the software.

Installing a Blog on a Website

Posted on November 12th, 2009 by admin

In this video tutorial we will be demonstrating how to install the blogging software, WordPress, onto your webhosting.

The following items you will need if you intend to install WordPress onto your website are:

1. FTP Information (you get this from your webhosting service. It includes FTP hostname, FTP username, FTP folder, and FTP password).
2. A MySQL Database (don’t worry if you don’t know what this is. Just ask your webhosting service for one. You’ll need a MySQL database name, database username, and database password; you may also need the database host but usually this is just ‘localhost’).
3. An FTP program – there are a lot of them out there. I generally use Dreamweaver but if you are looking for a free FTP program, I suggest FileZilla. You can download it here: http://filezilla-project.org/

If you have the 3 above items you are ready to get started installing WordPress!!!
