Facebook – Confirm Your Identity Problem
As probably many of you know, today, there has cropped up a problem with Facebook. I’m hoping that it is being worked on by Facebook and is resolved soon.
The problem is that while logged into your Facebook account, you are reminded to log in again. Once you go to log in, it tells you now that you must register a phone number to verify that you are a real person. So, Facebook then tells you to verify your phone number by texting the letter “f” to 32665. Facebook then texts you back a code which you enter into Facebook.
Sounds good so far right? Well, I followed all of the instructions and now can no longer get into my Facebook account. I’m attaching a screen shot below of the issue so that you can see what is happening. When I log in, I get a message that says “Confirm You Identity”, then below that it says “Your Account is Already Verified” and then there is a button to click “Confirm”. So, you click the “Confirm button, and nothing happens.
I just wanted those out there that are having this problem to realize that you aren’t the only ones with this issue and I don’t have an answer yet but I have contacted Facebook and I am awaiting their reply or fix.
To everyone, The probem has finally resolved itself. I don’t have an answer as to why it was having this problem. Facebook never contacted me to say that they were working on the problem. I guess just waiting out the 24 hours did the trick. If anyone experiences this problem and finds out what the answer is to fixing it, please post it here.

I’m actually still experiencing this problem and have been since late Friday night. I’ve written Facebook twice now and am still waiting.
And you did the complete phone verification? Also, I texted “on” to 32665 and then it started to work. I’m not sure if that is what fixed it but you might want to try that and let us know if that fixes it.
where do i put the code after it is sent to me???
I am having the same prob since fri too.
I am expiriencing the same Problem. My Account says, to send an SMS with the letter “f” to 2665. But my mobile isn’t able to send the short Message to that number. I also tried 32665.. still doesn’t work.
The other Option was to give Facebook my Mobile Number and receive an SMS with the activation Code. I did that, but there hast never arrived any SMS by Facebook. So I’m stuck in an infinite loop with that. There is exactly no way to get into my Account. Very disappointing.
I wrote at least 10 Messages to the Facebook Support but there is no Answer arriving. It seems, my Account is completely unreachable..
Any solutions yet?
I have the same problem.I’m new to facebook and I’m from China…It’s so bad and I’ve been stuck for 2days…I have no idear how to contact facebook supporters and has anyone get a solution to this?
Same problem here. What is worse for me, “my phone provider is not listed” and I never received any messages from Facebook. Can’t login for 5 days now
I set up an account as a new user and I’ve been locked out with this problem since Monday night (it is now Wed morning). I’ve tried texting “on”, I tried texting another “f” and nothing seems to work.
I got on briefly Monday when I first set the account up, then when I went back it wanted this “Confirm you identiy” with your cell phone. I don’t have a text plan, so I was hesitant at first but figured I could hide my cell phone number in my profile when I got back on.
So far I’ve gotten one reply yesterday morning saying my account was confirmed to try again, but each time I get the same screen. I’m about ready to give up. I thought it would be fun to try to reconnect with old friends but I guess it’s not going to happen.
BTW, I’ve had a LInkedIn account for years and been working with PC’s since they were based on 8080 chips so I’m not a neophyte. I can’t see what everyone thinks is so great about Facebook since they can’t even fix their sign up proccess.
Hi Barbara, I do think that this problem is directly related to creating more one account. Facebook has a strict policy against creating more than one account. They block an account that uses one email address and then a user creates a new account and uses that email address. This also happens if you use a cell phone as confirmation.

I am having the same problem as jasper above, never tried to create another account. I’m in Poland and can’t send a message to 32665, and never received any text message from facebook. I sent them many emails and they have replied twice saying the problem is fixed but it still doesnt work, same thing as before. Any solutions or links to more info?

facebook aren’t helping at all and by the looks of it are just ignoring everyone’s emails (including mine)
i created my account recently but i deactivated my old one so I’m not sure if that’s what caused this.
i been haveing problems logging in to my facebook i did a new account but i want my old one that i had where i had games saved it took alot of work to get where i am and i can’k log back in it keeps commong up about a cell phone and i don’t have texting i had my son and brother in law trying to help me but i had my old account a few months ago i am joan mcgilton my e main is joni335@ yhaoo.com and yes i changed my pass word a few times so i keep trying the pass words i use number one galaxy keep in that ine and keep my old facebook and hopefully i will be able to get back to where i was before my cell phone is only for emergancys and like i said i do not have texting please help i would appricate that thank you so much to varify who i am call me on my home number 1-740-425-1451 thank you

I got the exact same problem since this afternoon.
I am in the IT for 20 years and I can say that the facebook IT development team sucks at least as much as the facebook management.
I never got this king of frustrating problem by using Google in 8 years.

When I see Facebook treating its users this way, I know that hopefully they won’t hold for a long time
I’m from Brazil and I’m experiencing the same problem since last afternoon. As soon as I try to login it appears a window asking me to confirm my identity. there is a link on the page which suggests another means of confirmation, but it doesn’t work.
I wrote to all possible help desk addresses at facebook, but just received automatic answers telling me to check the help pages.
I use for moere than one year the LinkedIn professional network, and it works fine. As there it appears the people from another social network websites are much more competent and professionals than those from facebook!
I’m outside from USA so I can’t do anything. If I was in USA I woukd immediatelly contact the governemt authorities to force the incopetent facebook people to fix this problem!

And what to do if you don’t use a cell phone? The same “use different verification method” link appears, but does not work. I’ve been locked out over a week, have sent numerous reports and screenshots. It would be easier to be patient with FB if they would acknowledge publicly that there is an issue and they are working on it.
I am stuck in an infinite loop as well. Since I don’t use a mobile phone with texting I tried to use the alternate verification method link in the lower left corner of the page. It sent me right back to the mobile phone process. I had finally succumbed to peer pressure and was on Facebook for only three days. I have now been denied access for longer than that. Facebook certainly hasn’t impressed me. I hope several thousand others have the same problem so that the e-mails we send are noticed by a human and the roadblocks removed.
I have the same problem, and more. i published some adds on the facebook and now i can not monitor and control my add campaign.

I’ve already tried that and I’m still getting the same problem as Patrick.
I only need to get on facebook because it’s easier to talk to my parents on it.
I’m moving back in with them soon so i need to get that sorted out and this is just a major inconvenience.
if they don’t allow me back into facebook by the time i move i doubt i will use facebook ever again.

Has anyone else had sucess? I have! The confirmation screen should look slightly different now, with an option to add a landline #. There is also still a “use different verif. method” link, but I didn’t try it. If you put in your landline, you’ll get an automated call with a 4-digit pin to use. A couple of days ago I changed my password, & when they sent a verification e-mail, I replied to that email & told of the no cell-phone issue. Don’t know if that was the catalyst for my solution or not…

I purchased a newer cell phone and sent and SMS “f” to the number 32665. After a few minutes I received the “confirm identity code”, which was entered to the facebook page, and the access to my account was granted again.
THE PROBLEM
The problem is I already have 2 cell phones, each one from a different company. Facebook just accepts codes sent from another company. So, I was forced to purchase a cell phone, I don’t need, just to type a code, and I will never use it again anymore….

I still think however that facebook sucks, how can they put in place this sort of thing without any real-world tests?
It was also a good way to measure the dark facebook power to bother me.
It’s already been 2 weeks since I can’t access my facebook account. I’ve sent them a ton of mails but no answers from them and I’m still stuck.

I am also in France, look, there is a new option on the ‘Confirm Your Identity Problem’ page where you can get phone called back from facebook where a robot tell you by phone your 5 digits number.

I don’t see your new option.
When I see Confirm your identity, I click on Add your phone. Then as I’m in France I click on “My mobile service provider isn’t listed”, then “View popup to add my number ” and it asks for “Please enter the confirmation code that was texted to your phone” which of course I did’nt receive.
And if I click on “Never got your confirmation code? Let us know!” it asks me for log in so that I’m stuck in a loop.
How did you do it ?

Hey Bob, I’m in France too and I also have the same thing happening : I sent a message to another Facebooker and I got the “Confirm your Identity” shit going. I confirm the loop and I also think it shows how incompetent some people can get.
But you want to get out of the loop and come back to the first page where they ask you to type in your number, right ?
Try as many random CODES until it says in a pink rectangle something like ” You have type in too many wrong codes, please click here to …”, and when you click …. you come back to the page where they say “You are in France ….” and you have 2 boxes with the first one with “+33″ already written.
Watch out, I think you may have to write 10 numbers but only 9, thus deleting the first “0″ of your phone number.

hEY BOB? I MADE A MISTAKE : Do not click on the “click her to get help” thing, but look at the BOTTOM BLUE phrase below saying “Never got your confirmation code? Let us know!” -> after a certan number of tries it CHANGES : click on that phrase/link !!!
That will get you back to the first page where you can type your phone number.

I’ve put it without the 0 at the beginning but I have received nothing.
How long did it take for you to receive the code, was it immediately?

Same probem here… In France, I was totally blocked since sept 4th with the stupid loop. But now the final “never got your code” sentence finally did change into “need a new confirmation code ?” so I wa able to put my phone number again, without the 0 this time, twice, but I’m still waiting for the stupid code…
This is rather astonishing :
1) I created another account with practically the same info and …. no problem to access it !!!
2) My b-i-l who lives 10 miles from me has had no problem whatsoever accessing his account(s), noidentity controlling crap at all.
So is this a stupid bug ? Are certan people blacklisted for one reason or another ? ….
I still haven’t found a solution on any forum or blog out there.

Same thing happened to my account on August 27 & since then I haven’t been able to get into my account. I am hit with a link that says ‘road block” at the end of it. It appears that Facebook has started a new verification process on accounts with no warning to us. A pop up is coming up when you try to post in groups asking to verify your identity with a mobile number or credit card. This is supposedly to track people and catch them who have multiple accounts.
However, this makes no sense to me…family members use the same PC and don’t have cell phone numbers or credit cards to use.
This clearly invasion of our privacy. We shouldn’t have to provide our credit card or mobile numbers to a social networking in order to be able to continue to use or access our accounts. No one at facebook has been able to talk to their users about this issue.
I don’t know if this is a scam or what? But we need to get to the bottom of this as I find it to be outrageous!
I have emailed major newscasts about this issue with FACEBOOk.
Facebook has the most terrible customer service…they friggin did not get back to me at all to try to resolve this issue…all they do is send “automated” msg that does not resolve this situation!

What I would suggest all of you should do is to email your concerns to major news cast..maybe someone at the white house..lol! someone who CAN help TRACK DOWN FACEBOOK ppl and try to help us resolve this issue! This is insane & IT’S INVADING OUR PRIVACY!! Why the heck should I have to give them my credit card number or MOBILE to be able to continue to use my account?? I 100% agree with what Ash said yesterday. This is an invasion of our privacy. When we originally signed up for facebook we were not required to provide mobile phone numbers or credit cards. For them to be asking us for that information now is ridiculous. And worse yet, if we do not provide that info, we are locked out of our accounts? We WERE verified through email when we originally signed up. I really don’t care if fb has problems with people creating multiple accounts using different names and/or emails. We’ve had fb accounts for months and years now and now they are asking us to verify???
Terrible terrible customer service and support. I’ve been locked out for a week now. I’m sure my crops have died on some of the farms I had set up (farmville and farmtown) plus other games I was adding points up on as well.
I find it hard to believe that they haven’t fixed this problem yet. It’s been almost 2 weeks. I suspect this is a hacking scheme. You should never be asked for credit card info unless you are purchasing something. And you should never be asked to provide land line phone numbers or cell numbers for that matter. very very suspicous.

My solution : I asked a relation of a relation if he had an old mobile with a sim card, had one from an old job of his, got it activated, put the number in FB, got the confirm code yesterday, got back into my account last night, turn the phone off, took out the battery. Friggin’ FB !!!

Regardless of whether you have a mobile phone or not…sign-up FOR a Google voice number. That’s how I got around it. Facebook WILL accept that as a mobile number for this bullsh*t requirement.
That works? Some people say that it doesn’t.

I see you were playing the games there too..so was I =( I have been locked out since Aug 27..I could go ahead and create another acct but what is the point?
